Gynaecomastia can adversely affect mental health, triggering anxiety and depression, and may negatively impact self-esteem of many men. These individuals often desire a contoured chest for acquiring a more masculine appearance.

This surgery is used to reduce the size of male breasts, as well as for flattening and improving the chest outlines. After administering anaesthesia, a small incision (~5 mm) is made on the skin either around the areola or near the armpit. • Post-Surgical Care: Mr Allouni and his team will be at your side while you are recovering. Once you are ready to go home you will be receiving a proper guideline of dos and don’ts that you need to follow and instructions on how often you need to be in touch with your surgeon to share your recovery status.

After the surgery, you may feel a mild soreness around your chest for a few days. Mr Ammar Allouni may prescribe painkillers to alleviate discomfort. If he has not used resorbable sutures, he will remove your stitches during the follow-up appointment. 

Most people can resume work within a few days after surgery, however, strenuous physical activities can be done only after six weeks post-surgery. Mr Allouni may advise specific exercises post-surgery to aid in the healing process. In addition, compression garments may be prescribed during recovery.

The scar that is formed after the surgery reduces spontaneously and gradually. The amount of scar tissue formed depends on your skin, body condition and age.

The result of gynaecomastia surgery is immediately visible although it may take 3 to 6 months before the final results become apparent. Most patients who undergo gynaecomastia surgery are satisfied with their results. Nevertheless, you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle post-surgery. Weight gain, use of certain drugs like steroids and certain medical conditions may cause a recurrence. 

Like all minor surgeries, gynaecomastia surgery is associated with some complications like haematoma, seroma, infection and complications related to anaesthesia and bleeding. Other late-onset complications like recurrence of breast tissue, hypertrophic scar formation and uneven chest contours may occur in rare cases.
