About Dupuytren’s Fasciectomy Surgery

Dupuytren’s contracture can cause fingers to curve, affecting hand function. This surgery may help you straighten fingers and enhance hand function.
Mr Ammar Allouni will discuss all of your treatment alternatives with you at length. A Dupuytren’s fasciectomy is a surgical procedure in which the fibrotic tissue beneath your hand’s palm crease is removed, usually under general anaesthesia as an outpatient procedure. An incision is made in your hand and the affected connective tissue is removed. A skin graft might be necessary to close your wound. This is more effective in the long term but has greater risks.

Dupuytren’s Fasciectomy surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and usually spans between 1 to 2 hours. Typically, there are three main types of Dupuytren’s Fasciectomy surgeries.

Segmental Fasciectomy: Short segments of the cord may be excised through one or more small incisions.

Regional Fasciectomy: The entire cord is taken out through a single longer incision.

Dermo Fasciectomy: The cord and overlying skin is removed. This procedure necessitates a skin graft.
