About Chemical Peel treatment

Chemical peel treatment can help smoothen the appearance of your skin, reduce wrinkles and age spots and even improve blood flow. These procedures work by removing layers of skin.

During a chemical peel treatment, Mr Ammar Allouni uses an exfoliant acid on the thicker regions of skin, such as the chin and nose, before moving to the thinner areas around the eyes and mouth. Then he uses cool saline compresses to clean away any remaining exfoliant after the chemical peel.

Chemical Peel treatment usually spans between 0.5 to 1 hour. There are three main types of chemical peel treatments.

Superficial chemical peels: A light or superficial chemical peel removes the top layer of skin, which is known as the epidermis. The epidermis is the outermost layer of your skin. This peel targets fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone and dryness and is excellent for them. Depending on your goals, you can have a mild chemical peel every two to five weeks.

Medium chemical peels: A chemical peel removes dead skin cells from your epidermis and parts of the top layer of your skin’s middle layer, also known as the dermis. Wrinkles, acne scars and uneven skin tone can all be treated with a medium depth chemical peel. You may apply one of these treatments every three to nine months to maintain your results.

Deeper chemical peels: A deep chemical peel eliminates dead skin cells from your epidermis as well as the mid to lower layers of your dermis. If you have deep wrinkles, scars or precancerous growths, a deep chemical peel may be the best option for you. A deep chemical peel is irreversible once it is performed. This is because they target the deeper layers of the skin and the results are more long-lasting.

During your first appointment at our clinic, Mr Ammar Allouni will clarify all your questions regarding the procedure. He will recommend the chemical peels only if it is the best option for you. You will also be encouraged to clarify any doubts regarding the recovery period, post treatment care and the expected outcomes.

He will take your detailed medical history and conduct relevant clinical assessments, if this non-surgical procedure is indicated in your case. Additionally, he will inform you of the potential risks and complications of the treatment.

Some of your medications might require adjustments prior to the treatment or additional drugs may be prescribed. You will be asked to discontinue drugs like aspirin and herbal medications (if any) for a few days before and after the procedure.

Mr Ammar Allouni will also inform you about certain precautions to be taken before and after the treatment. He will instruct you to quit smoking and to avoid consuming alcohol and recreational drugs for a few days before and after the chemical peel treatment for best results.

  • Pre-Surgical Care: After your full body assessment and before your surgery day you get the list of precautionary measures – what all you should avoid and what all you should do for the best results.

  • Day of Surgery: Mr Allouni follows the BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) guidelines for all cosmetic procedures. On the day of surgery, your health status will be reassessed thoroughly and a qualified nurse will prepare you for the procedure. Mr Ammar Allouni and his team will ensure your well-being and comfort throughout the procedure.

  • Post-Surgical Care: Mr Allouni and his team will be at your side while you are recovering. Once you are ready to go home you will be receiving a proper guideline of dos and don’ts that you need to follow and instructions on how often you need to be in touch with your surgeon to share your recovery status.

  • Follow up Stage – FREE: You will be provided with a schedule about your follow up appointments. All your follow-ups with your surgeon will be completely free.

  • Personalised Care: Once you have gone through your surgery, you can always directly contact with Mr Ammar Allouni and his team in case you face any issue or concern in future.

Following a Chemical peel treatment, your skin will be more vulnerable to the sun. Remember to use
sunscreen everyday. You may also be given a special lotion to help with any peeling or
scaling that appears in the first few days after the treatment.

After the peel sloughs away, your fresh appearance becomes apparent. The enhanced collagen production nourishes healthy skin that glows forward, empowered by an increase in collagen. Potential risks of chemical peels include skin pigmentation, cold sores, scars and infection.
