How much does a Lipoma Excision surgery cost?

The cost of Lipoma Excision surgery is highly personalised depending upon the requirements of the patient and the outcome of the medical assessment conducted by Mr Ammar Allouni.

What is Lipoma Excision surgery?

Lipomas are benign fatty tumours that protrude from the skin and show up in any area of the body where fat deposits may be found. Lipoma excision surgery is done to remove such tumours and recurrences are quite uncommon after a lipoma has been treated surgically.

What are the benefits of Lipoma Excision surgery?

If potential cancerous growth is suspected, then Lipoma excision surgery is recommended.

About Lipoma Excision Surgery

If a blemish makes you worried aesthetically and physically you might take a doctor’s advice to get it surgically treated.

Mr Ammar Allouni will apply a local anaesthetic and make an incision into your skin to remove the lump. It may be sent to a lab for analysis. The skin will then be stitched or medical glue used to close it, followed by application of a bandage to prevent bleeding.

Lipoma excision surgery is performed under local anaesthetic and usually spans around 0.5 hours. Typically, there are two main types of Lipoma excision surgeries.

Surgical excision: The most popular method of lipoma excision is open surgical excision since it provides complete removal of the lipoma with Mr Ammar Allouni being able to visually confirm the lump during surgery. An elliptical incision is made in the skin around the lipoma and then gently squeezed out using simple finger pressure.  Surgical excision of the lipoma is followed by closure with the stitches. To confirm any cancerous changes, every removed specimen is examined histologically.

Liposuction: Microcannulas are tiny cannula-shaped instruments that are used for liposuction. Since microcannulas are minimally invasive, they produce less scarring than the traditional open approach of lipoma removal. There is, however, a somewhat higher risk of recurrence when compared to the open technique.

During your first appointment at our clinic, Mr Ammar Allouni will clarify all your questions regarding the procedure. He will recommend surgery only if it is the best option for you. You will also be encouraged to clarify any doubts regarding the recovery period, post-surgical care and the expected outcomes.

He will take your detailed medical history and conduct relevant clinical assessments, which might be followed by a 3D projection of the expected result – if surgery is indicated in your case. Additionally, he will inform you of the potential risks and complications of the surgery.

Some of your medications might require adjustments prior to the surgery or additional drugs may be prescribed. You will be asked to discontinue drugs like aspirin and herbal medications (if any) for a few days before and after the procedure.

Mr Ammar Allouni will also inform you about certain precautions to be taken before and after surgery. He will instruct you to quit smoking and to avoid consuming alcohol and recreational drugs for a few days before and after the surgery.

  • Pre-Surgical Care: After your full body assessment and before your surgery day you get the list of precautionary measures – what all you should avoid and what all you should do for the best results.

  • Day of Surgery: Mr Allouni follows the BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) guidelines for all cosmetic procedures. On the day of surgery, your health status will be reassessed thoroughly and a qualified nurse will prepare you for the procedure. Mr Ammar Allouni and his team will ensure your well-being and comfort throughout the procedure.

  • Post-Surgical Care: Mr Allouni and his team will be at your side while you are recovering. Once you are ready to go home you will be receiving a proper guideline of dos and don’ts that you need to follow and instructions on how often you need to be in touch with your surgeon to share your recovery status.

  • Follow up Stage – FREE: You will be provided with a schedule about your follow up appointments. All your follow-ups with your surgeon will be completely free.

  • Personalised Care: Once you have gone through your surgery, you can always directly contact with Mr Ammar Allouni and his team in case you face any issue or concern in future.

Recovery time is generally only a few days; however, this will be case to case basis. The majority of lipoma patients report a quick recovery. However, for up to two weeks after surgery, any intense activity should be avoided. You should take a minimum of 1 week leave from your work. Depending on the size and position of your lipoma, your natural scarring propensity, you may have scars after having it removed.

Even if lipomas are completely removed, they may return. A lobule may be difficult to remove even after excision. When individuals have many lipomas, it is possible that a new one develops after removal of the existing one. Potential risks of Lipoma excision surgery include bleeding, blood clot, infection, cellulitis and muscle irritation.
